This castle was built by Jean Sreiff von Lauenstein in 1577. The main building is surrounded by fortifications, most of which remain. Restoration has revealed “trompe l'oeil” murals unique in Alsace and French-style ceilings whose oak main beams are carved with interlacing patterns. This privately-owned renaissance castle is the only one of its kind in Alsace open to the public. Theatrical performances and concerts are held here during the summer. Opening hours: - individuals: guided tours of the inside of the castle, every day (except Monday), from 14th July to 31st August at 4.00 PM, and for the National Heritage Open Day - group: guided tours from April to November on request.
