Sauerkraut Route

Cabbage growers wanted a gastronomic route dedicated to sauerkraut which would run through several villages in the Ried plain in the Lower Rhine department of Alsace. Although the Sauerkraut Route has its official capital in the village of Krautergersheim, it actually starts in Erstein. As you drive down the Sauerkraut Route, you will be surrounded by fields of cabbages and discover numerous restaurants specialized in the preparation of this symbol of regional gastronomy.
